Oil Leak 2 1st December 00:00

To start with a little bit of spot the difference:

cfpa-serviceslogo

The top logo is that of Port of Cromarty Firth. The rebranded name of the Cromarty Firth Port Authority (CFPA), the organisation created by act of parliament to manage and develop the interests of the firth on behalf of the public.

The bottom logo is that Port of Cromarty Firth Services Ltd – the logo of a joint venture between the CFPA who own 50% of the company and two private shareholders who own 25% each.

So what? Well if you click on the “port services” on the CFPA website (cfpa.co.uk) then you are taken to the external website of the joint venture company – www.cromartyfirthservices.co.uk/

So what? Well Port of Cromarty Firth Services are not the only port services provider in the Cromarty Firth. Why are the competitors not identified?

Look at Lerwick, a trust port and a range of service providers are clearly identified:

Ullapool – a trust port – offers contacts for a range of service providers:

Inverness, a range of service providers:

The list goes on……

Is there a level playing field within the port? You decide.
