An intermission from the workings of the CFPA – this time, how safe is STS?
Have a look at this bulletin from the Ship Owners Club who are one of several insurers of oil tankers – “In 2015 the Club was faced with 83 collision cases involving STS operations and in 2016, there have been 81 collision claims to date.”
Hmmm……the CFPA will have us believe that ship to ship transfers take place safely around the world every day. 83 insurance claims from STS related collisions in 2015 and 81 so far in 2016, from one insurer doesn’t sound particularly safe, does it?
