A short but sweet oil leak tonight. According to this evening’s STV news (which concurs with rumours we’ve been hearing), the CFPA have been told by the MCA to “completely withdraw the current application”. If they want to continue they will need to submit a new application which will not happen before Easter. No doubt more will come out on this. We’ll take this as a small victory for common sense – however in the absence of the CFPA categorically stating that they are going to drop this plan, it is absolutely imperative that the fight goes on. If you haven’t done so already, go and sign the Holyrood petition: http://www.parliament.scot/GettingInvolved/Petitions/shiptoshiptransfers. Only through proper parliamentary scrutiny can this be put to bed once and for all.

So does all this opposition have to be repeated, after all if CFPA put in a different plan all previous opposition voices could be argued were for the previous plans, not opposition to the plans resubmitted after a few i’s dotted t’s crossed, I fear efforts may need to be redoubled or a stitch up will occur

It has now been confirmed that the PoCF has been directed to withdraw their current ship to ship (at sea) oil transfer license application and submit a new one. I respectfully suggest that as this license benefits no-one the PoCF should take notice of the experts, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the communities of the Cromarty and Moray Firth that have been opposing the application for over 12 months and withdraw the application totally. I would like to think that common sense would prevail and the PoCF drop the proposal completely. In the absence of any statement to the contrary I would urge objectors to continue opposing the application
