Drew Hendry’s thoughts

You might be interested to know that Drew Hendry MP has become active in the matter of STS, writing to both the UK Transport Minister, the Head of the MCA and meeting with various groups including the CFPA and Cromarty Rising. He writes:

In light of all those discussions, I do not accept that the perceived economic benefits outweigh potential negative implications, a granted licence could have on the entire area. Whilst Ship-to-Ship transfers happen relatively safely in other parts of the UK, it does not follow that all locations are suitable for the process. Applications must be considered with careful deliberation of all environmental, economic, and social implications of awarding a licence.

I have, therefore, written to the MCA and to the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling, Secretary of State for Transport to ask what impact assessments have been carried out for all coastal communities including Nairn and Ardersier and to highlight the significant opposition to proposals.”
