For those of you who didn’t make it to the hustings earlier in the week we can official announce that ALL candidates are standing on a ticket opposing Ship to Ship Oil Transfers at sea. We welcome this. Of the five candidates that made it to the hustings (Cllr Barclay didn’t attend and the labour candidate couldn’t attend but sent a written submission), the Conservative candidate stated she would probably vote against STS if it came before the council again while the other 4 where categoric that the vote against any new application.
There will be 3 councillors elected for the Black Isle next Thursday – we wish them good luck, but make no mistake, their feet will be held firmly to the fire on this one. They have all made commitments to oppose STS and we expect, no demand, that they are vocal in that opposition. For those of you not on the Black Isle, contact your candidates and get their view and let us know which side of the fence they are on.
